Panaji: In a major shake-up, six IAS officers were transferred out of Goa, including former
North Goa collector Sneha Gitte, who was in the spotlight after six people died in a stampede at the Shirgao jatra. Fellow IAS officer Yashaswini B, who replaced Gitte after she was abruptly removed from the post of North Goa collector, was also transferred out of Goa by the ministry of home affairs in the same order.
The four-member fact-finding committee constituted to investigate the stampede identified lapses in the crowd control arrangements and blamed the district collector and the police for the lapses.
The exit of six IAS officers from the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (Agmut) cadre paves the way for a homecoming for Yatin Maralkar and Sanjeev Gadkar, who made it to the IAS cadre after climbing up the ranks of the Goa Civil Service. Along with them, Arjun Mohan and Santosh Sukhadeve have been asked to report for duty in Goa.
The MHA also transferred Asvin Chandru, who was serving as chief minister Pramod Sawant’s secretary. Chandru is married to Gitte.
The MHA also transferred additional DGP, Omvir Bishnoi, to Delhi. In Bishnoi’s place, Keshav Ram Chaurasia has been transferred to Goa. He served as the joint commissioner in the economic offences wing of the Delhi police.
The other IAS officers who have been relieved with immediate effect are Ramesh Verma, Arun Kumar Mishra, and Suneel Anchipaka. The three have been transferred from Goa to Delhi. Gitte, Chandru, and Yashaswini have been transferred to Arunachal Pradesh.
