The Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins will open a three-game series at LoanDepot Park tonight, and Corbin Burnes is not slated to pitch. The Diamondbacks' ace pitched his first quality start of the 2025 season, logging his first home start at Chase Field in the last week against the Milwaukee Brewers. Burnes has no injury concerns and should return to the team's regular rotation schedule that would have him pitching later in the week against another opponent after the Marlins series.
Corbin Burnes is showing improvement after a recent home start
After winning back-to-back comeback games on Saturday and Sunday, the Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off a successful homestand. With the team riding momentum, Merrill Kelly, not Burnes, takes the mound Tuesday in the opener of a three-game set against the Marlins.
In his Arizona Diamondbacks home debut, Corbin Burnes delivered a solid performance, six innings completed, three earned runs on 88 pitches against the Milwaukee Brewers. The outing was his first quality start of the 2025 season, after going "lackluster" in his last bout against the Washington Nationals.
The Arizona Diamondbacks' rotation should be well served for the future if the right-hander has been able to successfully make the necessary adjustments after the initial difficulties. Corbin Burnes is still not set to face the Miami Marlins in this series, but his recent play has him looking like he's getting into his groove in his first season with the Arizona Diamondbacks after his acquisition in the offseason.
Arizona Diamondbacks rotation set for Miami Marlins series
The Arizona Diamondbacks have arranged their pitching rotation for the three-game series against the Miami Marlins with Merrill Kelly scheduled to start the April 15th opener at 6:40 PM ET. Brandon Pfaadt will take the mound for Wednesday's game, followed by Eduardo Rodríguez in Thursday's series finale.
Fans can watch all three games on ARID or stream them on Fubo, where regional restrictions may apply. The Arizona Diamondbacks enter this series with a 9-7 record, looking to continue their momentum after taking two of three games from the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend.
While Corbin Burnes won't feature in this particular series, the Arizona Diamondbacks will be counting on their bullpen, which has been exceptional so far with several relievers, including Shelby Miller, Jalen Beeks, and Justin Martinez, posting impressive numbers through the first 15 games of the season.
