Krushna Abhishek who is recently winning hearts in Laughter Chefs 2 talks about his bond with Samay Raina amid the India's Got Latent controversy. The actor got candid that he was invited for the show. Here's what he shared:
Krushna said, "Samay Raina is a very cute person. The good part about his roasts is that he still respects everyone. He is a very good human being. He will come on our show and I was going to go for India's Got Latent but I couldn't make it earlier as I was unwell. He had invited me. I love his show, it is good. Gaali Galoch, theek hai bhai. He has his different audience, he does it all innocently and people don't take offence. I want to go on his show, hopefully if it happens, I will be there as a guest."
He also updated on the new season of TGIKS, "The Great Indian Kapil Show is most likely to come after April. We are still shooting, it has only been launched."
As reported about the controversy, Indian YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as 'BeerBiceps', faced significant backlash following his appearance on comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show,
India's Got Latent. During the episode, Allahbadia posed an explicit question to a contestant: "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to stop it forever?"
The remark sparked widespread condemnation from social media users, public figures, and political leaders. Multiple police complaints were filed against both Allahbadia and Raina, leading to a police investigation and discussions in the Indian Parliament about regulating online content. In response to the controversy, Raina removed all episodes of
India's Got Latent from his YouTube channel and expressed his cooperation with authorities.
The Supreme Court of India criticized Allahbadia's conduct, describing it as showing a "lack of responsibility" and being "condemnable." While the court protected him from arrest, it imposed restrictions, including the surrender of his passport and a travel ban.
This incident has ignited debates about freedom of speech and the potential for increased censorship of digital content in India. Proposed legislation aims to regulate broadcasting services, which could impact content creators across platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Observers express concern that such regulations might stifle free expression and expand governmental control over digital media.
The controversy also highlights the challenges faced by Indian comedians and content creators, who have previously encountered legal issues and public outrage over their material. The current political and moral climate in India continues to influence the boundaries of acceptable content in the digital space.
Samya had even penned a note sharing that he had deleted all the episodes of his show India's Got Latent and was cooperating with the investigation.
Currently, Krushna Abhishek is seen working on multiple projects. Apart from Laughter Chefs season 2, the actor is also shooting for the third season of The Great Indian Kapil Show. On Laughter Chefs 2, he is paired with his wife Kashmera Shah.
