Aamir Khan Productions changes profile picture to Indian Flag amid ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ boycott calls; Netizens think it's ‘damage control’
Aamir Khan’s production house, Aamir Khan Productions, has changed its display picture (DP) on all social media platforms to the Indian National Flag. This surprising move was noticed on Friday by fans who saw the usual 'A' logo being replaced by the tricolour on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.
This change comes at a time when Aamir has been facing calls for a boycott of his upcoming film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’. Unconfirmed reports claim that the reason for the backlash ahed of the film's release are due to the actor's support for ‘Operation Sindoor’ and an old clip from his visit to Turkey that resurfaced online.
Is this ‘damage control’?
Soon after the DP changed to the Indian flag, social media users quickly began discussing on r/BollyBlindsNGossip, if this was a case of “damage control”.
One user wrote, “Lol he’s being boycotted online so clearly did it as damage control.” Another commented, “Bekar me damage control kar rahe hai, aisa karne se thore naa boycott karne waale inko chor denge. (It’s not like people wanting to boycott will change their minds, why are they trying to damage control).” Many fans called the picture change a way to handle the negative publicity but doubted it would stop the boycott calls.
Supporters speak up for Aamir
However, not everyone agreed with the boycott. Some pointed out that Aamir and his production house have shown support for the Indian army several times.
One fan wrote, “Why are people conveniently ignoring that this same account had posted in support of India and the armed forces’ mission? And as soon as it was made public, didn’t wait a day or two.” Another added, “Having said that, Aamir’s PH account posted stories in support of the army the same day when operation was conducted. So idk why people are targeting him so much, he hasn’t been silent.”

Aamir Khan’s own words on the situation
A while ago, when asked about the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, he told ABP News, “We need justice and assurance that it [terrorist attacks] won’t happen again. We believe in our government, they’ll take action against the anti-social elements who committed this and bring them to justice.”
