Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar shared a special bond with late music icon Lata Mangeshkar. Their sweet camaraderie was revisited when an old video resurfaced online.
The clip from an event held in 2012 to honour Tendulkar hitting the milestone of 100 international centuries, went viral online as it captured the cute bond that the two legends shared. Lata, a lifelong cricket enthusiast, shared a deep connection with Tendulkar, whom she affectionately regarded as a 'son'.
Speaking about the bond she shared with the cricketer, she said, "He treats me like his mother, I always pray for him like a mother. When Sachin called me Aai (mother), I had never imagined that I would feel blessed to have a son like him."
Tendulkar often referred to Lata as "Aai" which translates to "mother" in Marathi. During a star-studded celebration back in 2012, which saw everyone from Aamir Khan to Salman Khan and many others in attendance, Mangeshkar delivered a heartfelt tribute to Tendulkar on stage. In response, the cricketer addressed her in Marathi and said, "I have given you the status of a mother and I am like your son. So I request you to sing the song 'Tu Jahan Jahan Chalega'."
Not one to miss the opportunity to serenade those she loves with a song, Mangeshkar said in the clip, “I am too excited, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sing properly,” before going on to deliver a soulful rendition of the song.
