Veteran Telugu actor and politician
Nandamuri Balakrishna was honored with the prestigious
Padma Bhushan award on April 28, 2025, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to
Indian cinema. The award ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, where President
Droupadi Murmu presented the honor in the presence of dignitaries.
Following the ceremony, Balakrishna expressed his gratitude through a post on his official Facebook page. He described receiving the
Padma Bhushan as a deeply emotional and humbling experience, calling it a blessing to serve the world of cinema and to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father, Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao.

He wrote, "Today, I am overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude as I receive the Padma Bhushan award from the Hon'ble President of India. It is a blessing to serve the world of cinema and to walk on the path laid down by my legendary father, Shri Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao Garu. I accept this honor with humility and dedicate it to every dreamer who believes in hard work, values, and service to society.

A celebrated career in cinema
Balakrishna’s film career spans over four decades, with more than a hundred films to his credit. He made his mark with powerful performances in action and family dramas, earning multiple accolades, including three Nandi Awards for Best Actor. Some of his notable films include 'Narasimha Naidu,' 'Simha,' 'Legend,' and 'Gautamiputra Satakarni,' the latter marking his 100th film and earning him critical acclaim and awards.
Recent success
Balakrishna was last seen in the action drama 'Daaku Maharaaj,' directed by Bobby Kolli, which grossed over Rs 100 crore at the box office.
