Jennifer Garner leads a 'mercy squad' to ensure ex Ben Affleck doesn’t relapse amid his divorce from Jennifer Lopez

They say starting a relationship is one thing and maintaining the same is another. Especially if you are a celebrity, whose life stays in the limelight 24/7, it is very hard to stop your private matters from going public. A recent example of the same is the ongoing public divorce of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. It is never easy when your dirty laundry comes out in public, and for someone like Ben who has a history of alcohol issues and mental health problems, the scene tends to turn uglier.In these difficult times, Ben’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner has stepped in to save the ‘Deep Water’ star, as the reports suggest there is fear of him relapsing given his current divorce proceedings.
According to the reports of In Touch magazine, Jennifer Garner is leading a ‘mercy squad,’ whose key role is to keep tabs on Ben, ensuring he is doing ok.
“You’re seeing Jen going over there nearly every day to make sure he’s okay. His mother, his brother and his close friends, like Matt Damon, are helping out too. They’re all in touch with him and with each other. They’re very much a team and acting as a de facto support group for him. If they’re seeing a thing to worry about, they alert each other immediately. Ben knows they’re all in touch, but he doesn’t know the extent of it,” mentioned a source.
Ben and Jennifer Garner exchanged vows in 2005 and by 2018 the two parted ways. They have three children - Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
On the other hand, Ben and JLo started dating in 2002, and the following year they even planned to get married. However, fate had some other plans, and their wedding got postponed. Then in 2004, they broke up. Their romance was then rekindled in 2021 and in 2022 they got married. However, their happily ever after did turn into a reality as in August 2024 Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce.
