Champions Trophy: Team India manager returns home due to bereavement in family
DUBAI: R Devraj, Team India manager during the 2025 Champions Trophy, has left the squad to attend to a family bereavement. Devraj's mother, Kamaleshwari passed away on Sunday morning, prompting him to immediately depart to Hyderabad upon receiving the tragic news. Devraj is the secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).
"With deep sorrow, we inform you that our secretary Devraj's mother, Kamaleshwari garu, has passed away. May her soul rest in peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Devraj garu and his family," the HCA said in a statement.
The news of his departure came even as India were playing New Zealand in their final group match in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. It is unclear whether Devraj will return to resume his managerial duties, though much of it will also depend on the outcome of Tuesday's semifinal, which involves India.
